Woodfrys Farm is a campsite with a green and sustainable ethos at it's heart.  If you want to get back to nature in fantastic surroundings, then this campsite is for you.

Nestled in the North Dorset countryside in easy striking distance of lovely places to visit, you can decide whether  to go out or relax onsite watching the birdlife on the lake, paddling in the stream, or walking the meadow.

Situated in the Cranbourne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which is a International Dark Sky Reserve, with dark nights and starry skies. Torches are a must!

Every care is taken to ensure we minimise the impact of what we do on the environment and we're actively taking steps to make low impact camping an easy and enjoyable experience for all.

The Ridge

Campervan or tents

There are two pitches on the Ridge which have a birds eye view of the water meadow and lake, often with fantastic aerial displays from the local bird life.

You'll catch the last rays of the day up on the Ridge.  Each pitch has it's own water supply, picnic table and fire pit and is closer to the shop & shower facilities.

The other pitch up on the Ridge is  The Withy Hut. This is a Sleeps 2 Shepherds Hut, but you can also add up to 3 more people to the pitch staying in a camper or tent so something to think about if you want a mix of camping and glamping!

The Water Meadow

Tents & one campervan pitch

Enclosed in the valley bottom, the Water Meadow is surrounded by mature trees with a one acre lake close to a crystal clear chalk stream. Pitches are mown into the meadow and are generous in size.

On arrival and departure day, you will be able drive down to the meadow. Some pitches are vehicle accessible if ground conditions allow or if you want to get away from it all you can borrow a wheel barrow to bag a more remote spot.

Down here you are surrounded by trees, with birds and bats all around. Many get to see barn owls, hear the tawny owl or spot a kingfisher.

Facilities

Each pitch is supplied with

  • a picnic table

  • a fire pit with logs available to purchase. £6 for a generous sized tub with kindling and lightings, all sustainably harvested on the farm. Only logs provided by us can be burnt onsite. We recycle all the ash for fertilising the plants and trees.

Water is heated on demand so no energy goes to waste.

Composting

Everything is composted here!

Pick up  a compost caddy for your food waste.  The ash from your fire is potash for the orchard.

Thanks to the composting toilets we have more than enough compost to ensure the hedges, trees and mini-beasts are thriving. That's why you''ll see & hear so many birds when you are here.

Kind

We supply environmentally friendly products for you to use during your stay including washing up liquid, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner and shower gels.

We use Faith-In-Nature, and Bio-D who are both B-Corp listed companies and who takes steps to live lightly
